Getting Product Photography Right

Well I’m not going to lie, this week has been a little slow on the Cross Stitch front. Honestly I’ve just not been feeling mega creative, I think the combination of last weeks beautiful weather with this week’s typical April weather has got me in huff. Well a combination of that and the fact that I’ve been Shetland Pony focused this week as we plan to move stables.

So my creativity has been absorbed in painting stables and creating miniature stable doors. But seriously how can you resist this face!

Whilst I haven’t really been focused on the Cross Stitch I’ve still been busy with The Sassy Thread, this week has been all about developing our picture portfolio, or as I like to call it the three P’s perfecting product photography (or at least trying to). The great thing with Etsy is it’s quick and easy to make changes to your listings, uploading new images and details takes a couple of minutes. So in no time at all your shop can have a whole new frontage.

I’ve been toying with the idea of downloading a raw-image app for my phone, being entirely honest here most of the images for The Sassy Thread do come from my trusty iPhone. I mean who has the time for the faff of a DSLR. So looking into these apps they seem pretty interesting, more research may be required there, or perhaps it’s time to quit being lazy and pull the DSLR out of the cupboard!

I’ve been playing around with props, lighting and backgrounds and have to admit I’m pretty happy with the results so far.

With a less than beautiful weekend forecast there should be lots of time for further playing around with pretty images and hopefully the completion of some on going cross stitch projects. Have a super weekend Sasspots!

Stay Sassy Sasspots!
